Hope Edelman's New Book

The Possibility of Everything by Hope Edelman is out in hardcover today.

Hope takes readers on a extraordinary journey to Belize, where she seeks healing for her young daughter.

A few days ago, after we met for breakfast, I had Hope read a bit from her book. It is a section that stayed with me for months after I read it. That passage was about the Mayan Calendar and how time is speeding up as we near the end of a many million year calendar cycle, in our lifetime. Hope was a willing reader (although it's odd to be asked to read in the car) and she read. The power of her voice carried the wisdom of the ages, she changed me with her research, her insights and her story.

Go to Hope's web site, watch her promotional video and of course, spread the word about The Possibility of Everything. It's a wonderful read.

Moonriver

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Mercury Retrograde

again.

This one lasts from Sept. 7 to Sept. 31st. It's a doozy! Markets are already on their way down. These are hard times, the other shoe is dropping but a new earth emerges. Praying for world peace, seeing guns melted down to make art, arising consciousness, clean air and water imperatives. It's all coming.

The info below comes from the Astrology on the Web. astrologycom.com

Mercury Retrograde in Libra

When Mercury is retrograde, everyone's thinking is more introspective; we tend to think about issues and concerns that relate to the sign involved. With Mercury retrograde in Libra, people with this sign prominent in their charts will be especially prone to such introspection. Libra is a Cardinal Sign, so the other Cardinal Signs, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn will also receive a touch of the lash! Notwithstanding, Mercury turns this time in a favoured segment of the zodiac, (the Terms of Venus) at a time when Venus, goddess of love, beauty and money, and Jupiter, lord of fortune, are blessed by excellent lunar aspects. This will no doubt affect the retro phase for the better.

Mercury turns retro at 6°13' Libra, conjunct the very fortunate – and indeed mercurial – Fixed Star Zaniah, which is known for its love of order, congeniality, refinement and honour. It is said to produce a lovable nature... Dramatic Diadem in the constellation Coma Berenices is also activated, the "Wreath of Jewels" adding a suave touch of sensuality to the mix. So the stars favour this turn, as indeed do the planets.

Mercury retro in Libra, a Venus-ruled sign, encourages a broad, well-balanced mind with a love of art and music, though perhaps an over-fondness for luxury, especially in transportation. Public speakers and singers may receive well-earned success, notably through contacts from the past. This phase fosters virtue and morality, so in order to see ideas translated into money and other tangible rewards, we need to trust our intuition without being carried away, or confused by gaudiness. This might be harder than it sounds, due to an impending surge in the attention given to gossip magazines and other "informative" commentators on TV and the WWW. Objectivity and an unbiased approach should work well in impersonal situations, but can interfere with intuition when more emotion and less intellectual analysis is needed. Legal matters are likely to meet roadblocks as scuttlebutt becomes the main stimulant during this phase. Trouble by lawsuits through partnerships or an unfaithful marriage partner are in the wind. Too much nervousness and stress may affect kidney functionality under this transit, so be sure to drink adequate amounts (6-8 glasses daily) of pure water to keep kidney filtration open.

Mercury remains in Libra until just before the Virgo New Moon on Sep. 18th, when he slips back into Virgo. This is a day of remarkable tension and potential for misunderstanding, thanks to the plethora of difficult aspects. Mercury returns to Libra on October 10th, but read on for more on Mercury's stay in Virgo.

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo

It's not all beer and skittles, or wine and roses if you prefer, because once Mercury moves back into his own sign Virgo, the Virgin, at 03:27 hrs UT on September 18, a more critical and less harmonious dynamic comes into play. Virgo is a Mutable Sign, so the other Mutable Signs – Sagittarius, Pisces and especially Gemini, Mercury's day sign – will notice the developments and the effects of the Fixed Stars that are active. Mercury retro in Virgo brings intellectual confusion and mixups over important details. Analytical analyses are thwarted and educational issues are thrown into turmoil. People tend to change their minds, being unduly influenced by the persuasive power of others. Self-confidence is threatened and we tend to be too impatient and overly critical. The need for perfection conflicts with the less-than-perfect world. Workers tend to strike, or generate difficulties. Matters to do with all professionals, especially those in the healing arena, tend to find obstruction, or confusion. The military is subject to problems through poor communication and faulty intelligence.

Mercury in Virgo is exalted, so, in conjunction with the New Moon, clear, logical, scientific thinking is presented as justification for decisions, but the decision makers should be very clear on the implementation of new ideas and policies. This lunation is by and large fortunate, but is notably conjunct Benetnash, ominously named Alkaid in Arabic, which is associated with death and mourning, war and natural catastrophes. Orators will notwithstanding have the eloquence to express their ideas fluently, which should inspire bold plans for the future thanks to the continued influence of Coma Berenices, but we should nevertheless remain skeptical, as the great strength of Virgo is analysis and discrimination. Look for alternatives that are practical and to the point. A tendency to be irritable, critical and selfish may cloud the issues.

Mercury turns direct again at 21° 38' Virgo on Sep. 29, returning to Libra on Oct. 10th. The energies here are connected with Denebola, again associated with disease, natural disasters and catastrophes. The urge for control will be strong, but proper assistance may be thwarted by a lack of imagination and faulty intelligence on the part of those in charge. Happiness will be overturned by circumstances for those affected.

Of course all areas of communication are affected by this phase, especially in matters related to teaching, healing, professional advice, workplace relationships (especially those with employees and subordinates), the military, and communications connected with such matters. Small animals may be important amidst the confusion. This period brings travel snafus, mail mishaps and missed appointments of all kinds. Documents can go astray. Be sure to carry a diary and refer to it often.

Writing that Stands the Test of Time

Writing for therapy rarely becomes art.

Writing art is a form of therapy.

I don't blog much anymore. Blogging has always been a bit of a confusion.

Reading and even writing a blog is unsatisfying. When I came upon the above quote, I knew exactly why.
