The Day is Coming
It doesn't seem possible, after all the waiting and writing and wondering, but we are now in line for March publication of the true sequel to Blackbird which I am proud to announce is titled Found. This book has been called Home, Bye Bye Blackbird and Gone Home. Like all creative processes, the title has evolved and now stands. Found.
A subtitle is being created as I write this but the best news is that the book is in in fine shape and being submitted next week for those preparatory edits. A cover is being designed (around the work of Bay Area painter extraordinare, Blair Peters-example here) and I am asking my peers for comments to embellish the jacket.
It's an honor to work with a fine press like Seal out of Berkeley, this grouping of good women dedicated to shaking up the established order.
Found is considered, by me, to be the true sequel because it answers all the questions Blackbird raised about motherloss, abandonment and survival. Found also gives the adult reflection that comes from maturity and perspective. I am proud to have lived to have written Found and to see it being published by such a great group of woman. Many announcements about release and tours will be made via this site. Please send your requests for book groups, workshops and readings to me--via this site--and I will be composing a spring and summer tour.

Reason 68
I'm closing in on my first teaching after more than a year of being in retreat and finishing my most recent memoir. We have spaces--just ten--for writing students at our SUMMER INTENSIVE. It's going to be a great teaching that will have you leave excited, motivated and empowered with tools to get your memoir out on paper.
Reason #68 to attend the August Memoir Intensive with Jennifer Lauck
I am going to teach you how to finish a full length book! It's a little "get the job" done technique I've developed that has helped me finished four memoirs and three novels in the last ten years. I am a finisher! I like to teach how it's done.
Go to Teachings for more details.

Top Ten Reasons to Take the August Intensive:
There are a lot of reasons not to take a writing workshop (and put your life story-on the back-burner): time, money, your partner isn't supportive, you're going through a hard time, etc.
Sound familiar?
Here are ten solid reasons to "just do it!"
1) Finally tell your story as it deserves to be told.
2) Achieve the inner peace that comes with deep self inquiry through writing.
3) Understand all the crap you went through as a kid and what you keep going through now!
4) Learn what it takes to finish a book length project.
5) Be one step closer to publishing a book.
6) Demystify publishing, writing and the writing life.
7) End that lie you are telling yourself about not being a good enough writer even though you desperately want to write.
8) Meet other people who are feeling EXACTLY how you feel.
9) Discover that your story is truly unique, amazing and needs to be told.
10) Know, once and for all, what it feels like to have the tools to "get it out."
In the last fifteen years, I have written four memoirs and three novels. I have published three memoirs and am negotiating a contract on a fourth. I also have two kids, have done six years of intensive spiritual practice and am in an MFA program getting my graduate degree. I don't say this to show off. I say this because I have mastered a secret that I will be teaching you. Are you ready?? Here goes: Being a successful writer is the result of getting help from those who know what they are doing.
For the last fifteen years, I have been leaning into those with expertise to take me where I want to go. And, all of my writing now is the result of attending workshops like the one I now offer in Portland, Oregon this August 20, 21 & 22.
In a weekend, you are going to be inspired, excited, seen, heard and supported. You are going to be drenched in full body acceptance of YOU and your story. You are, perhaps, going to end up changing that life you keep putting on the backburner.
Additionally, if you are in Portland and continue forward at the table each week, you are going to stay with an incredible community of supportive writers who will journey with you to the promised land which is a FINISHED BOOK!
Finally, if you seek me out for one on one coaching, which I offer to all my students after they have journeyed to the intensive, you will also find your way to finishing that book.
Go to Teachings for more information and send me an email with your questions.
There are spots at the table. Make yourself and your story a priority. I am here to help!
